About
Posted on 08/25/2008 08:06 am by Don MarshThis site is in a blog format so that people can easily publish their own information, and so others can subscribe to it, if they so choose. For the blog-illiterate, that does NOT mean paying for a subscription. This is NOT a magazine or a pay service, although I will offer some pay services in the near future.
The goal of this site is to make it as easy as possible for small businesses that are based in Alachua County to get their information out for free, and for consumers who want to buy locally to find local products and services.
In the interest of saving us all from spam, I will be carefully checking to make sure that all the members with posting privileges are residents of Alachua County. Other restrictions will include: no large corporations, no dating services, no adult entertainment, no Multi-Level-Marketing. If something else unforeseen rears its ugly head in the future, I will kick it off the island as well.
We are living in a day and age when it behooves us all to have a few streams of income, so if your small business is something you do after-hours, that is fine. If you are willing to barter, you are also welcome. All I ask is that we keep this family friendly.
Comments will be turned on, and this is largely for the benefit of consumers, who may want to give you a thumbs-up or even a thumbs-down. If that frightens you away, you should reconsider whether or not you should be in business. An important part of being a part of the business community is being accountable, and working to resolve customer service issues. It speaks well of you when you try to make things right.
Comments are anonymous if the commenter wants them to be, but THEY MUST INCLUDE A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS. This is intended to protect the business from being harassed anonymously by cheesy competitors who want to slander someone with no consequences. Comments without a valid email address will NOT be approved. Comments WITH a valid email address will NOT have that email address displayed on the blog.
As of October 11, 2008, this blog is still in beta test…
